The Dead Lakes is an 80 square mile area was formed years ago when the waters of the Apalachicola and Chipola Rivers converged on a cypress swamp. This flooded the low-lying area and formed a lake. Later, a flood of salt water temporarily replaced the fresh water which killed the cypress trees and left only stumps, giving the area the name Dead Lakes.
The name is not the only thing that is spooky. People from the area's sleepy little town of Wewahitchka report strange lights and noises coming from the area.
Are these lights and noises from animals still living in the swamp...or are they from the afterlife? FCPI set out to find out!
